The Krona became Sweden’s national currency in 1873 when they joined Norway and Denmark in the ‘Scandinavian Monetary Union’.

This union lasted until just after the First World War when the other two countries returned to their own currency systems. The Swedish Krona is now one of the most traded currencies in the world.
